In this case, I think I had a similar problem. I started using Boxee before I added a profile avatar at <a href="http://app.boxee.tv" rel="nofollow">http://app.boxee.tv</a>. I believe I had to delete my ~/.boxee/UserData/profiles.xml and ~/.boxee/UserData/profiles.xml.bak files before it would regenerate them with my avatar.
